This postgraduate programme on Ultrasound in Peri-operative and Critical Care (UPCC) combines distributed learning modules with workshops and short residential courses. The study options include:
- Postgraduate Certificate in ‘Ultrasound in Perioperative & Critical Care’
The certificate course is designed to provide fundamental knowledge of principles of ultrasonography, basic relevant physiology and pharmacology, sono-anatomy, ultrasound machine, scanning techniques, ultrasound guided basic interventions, needling techniques and general considerations.
- Postgraduate Diploma in ‘Ultrasound in Perioperative & Critical Care’
The Diploma course is designed to provide intermediate skills and knowledge of ultrasound guided vascular access, regional anaesthesia and ICU interventions. This is in addition to those already covered under the certificate course.
- Masters in ‘Ultrasound in Perioperative & Critical care’
The Masters course is designed to enable advanced skills in ultrasound for perioperative and critical care in addition to those already covered in the diploma course. These include higher level of knowledge about ultrasound and guided catheter techniques in adults and paediatrics, localization of epidural and thecal spaces, chronic pain blocks, long term vascular access, TTE and advanced ICU interventions.
